Handle with Care by Jodi Picoult

"Every expectant parent will tell you that they don't want a perfect baby, just a healthy one. Charlotte and Sean O'Keefe would have asked for a healthy baby, too, if they'd been given the choice. Instead, their lives are made up of sleepless nights, mounting bills, the pitying stares of "luckier" parents, and maybe worst of all, the what-ifs. What if their child had been born healthy? But it's all worth it because Willow is, well, funny as it seems, perfect. She's smart as a whip, on her way to being as pretty as her mother, kind, brave, and for a five-year-old an unexpectedly deep source of wisdom. Willow is Willow, in sickness and in health." Everything changes, though, after a series of events forces Charlotte and her husband to confront the most serious what-ifs of all. What if Charlotte should have known earlier of Willow's illness? What if things could have been different? What if their beloved Willow had never been born? To do Willow justice, Charlotte must ask herself these questions and one more. What constitutes a valuable life?

My review - I loved this book other then the ending. The ending just wasn't what I wanted it to be. I loved learning all about Willow and her disability. Very interesting! I only have one more book to read from Picoult and I'm expecting it to be just as good as all the other books she's wrote. I gave this book 4 stars because it was so captivating!

Six Word Saturday

God is good, all the time!

God will never leave you, never give you more then you can handle, and never stop loving you! The creator of the earth loves you...How AWESOME is that?

Saturday 9: Midnight Confessions

Saturday 9: Midnight Confessions

1. Have you ever had to confess something to a lover or friend? Not that I remember.
2. How well do you handle rejection? Not well at all. I'm very hard on myself about the way other people see me.
3. What makes you feel old? Seeing little teeny-boopers walking around.
4. What makes you feel young? Music, listening to music!
5. What’s something you are old school about? Waiting to "dust" until you are married. I'm very old school about it. It was the best thing that I have ever done and I am all about promoting abstinence. Don't read this wrong and think I'm judging anyone who hasn't or won't wait until they are married - to each their own. But it is something so wonderful to wait! Okay, stepping off my soap box.
6. What TV show's seasons would you buy on DVD? Tell us why it rocks. King of Queens - we have a few seasons of those and would love to have all of them. That show is so funny. Probably another one would be ER. It was such a good show. And House and I'd love to catch up on the show Fringe.
7. If you could create your own TV channel, what would it be? Hum...It'd be a mix between do-it-yourself stuff, funny tv shows and then of course I'd put a little bit of news on there for my husband.
8. Where do you like to go for a day trip? Mountains. A few years ago my husband and I went to the mountains on a rare weekend that he had off and it was so awesome! AND the beach, I'm going to my mother-in-law's, Cindy's, next weekend just for the weekend!
9. Name some things that you still want to do in your life. Have children, be a stay-at-home mom, be a good witness for Christ!

Rebecca's Choice by Jerry Eicher

Popular Amish fiction author Jerry Eicher finishes the Adam’s County Trilogy with an intriguing story of a young couple’s love, a community of faith, and devotion to truth.

Rebecca Keim is now engaged to John Miller, and they are looking forward to life together. When Rebecca goes to Milroy to attend her beloved teacher’s funeral, John receives a mysterious letter accusing Rebecca of scheming to marry him for money. Determined to forsake his past jealousies and suspicions, John tries hard to push the accusations from his mind.

Upon Rebecca’s return, disturbing news quickly follows. She is named as the sole heir to her teacher’s three farms. But there’s a condition—she must marry an Amish man. When John confronts Rebecca, she claims to know nothing. Soon Rachel Byler, the vengeful but rightful heir to the property, arrives and reveals secrets from the past. Now the whole community is reeling!

My Review - This book was pretty good...Rachael did get on my nerves through-out the book and I thought it was pretty low the things she would do to get the money. Although the ending was sad I thought it was appropriate. This was also my favorite book out of the whole trilogy. And I'll probably read other books by Eicher. So overall I gave it a 4 star!

Candle in the Darkness by Lynn Austin

Book 1 in the Refiner's Fire series. The daughter of a wealthy slave-holding family from Richmond, Virginia, Caroline Fletcher is raised in a culture that believes slavery is God-ordained and biblically acceptable. But upon awakening to the cruelty and injustice it encompasses, Caroline's eyes are opened for the first time to the men and women who have cared tirelessly for her. Her journey of maturity and faith will draw her into the abolitionist movement, where she is confronted with the risks and sacrifices her beliefs entail.

My Review -

This book was pretty good and I absolutely LOVED the ending...I took me a while to get into the book cause it was set back in the 1860's and that's not usually the type of writing I read but I love all of Austin's other books so I knew after I got into this book I'd like it as well. I will be reading the other books in this series and I can't wait to read them! :) I only gave it a 3 star, instead of 4 or 5, because I'm quiet stingy with my 4 and 5 stars! :)

Saturday 9: Hey Jealousy

Saturday 9: Hey Jealousy

1. When was the last time that you got jealous? Hum...It's been a while. I remember around Christmas being jealous of a girl at work who was pregnant. Only because I'd love to have a baby of my own. BUT God will supply that when He sees fit and that's what I keep telling myself. So being jealous really was silly!

2. At what point do you finally decide it's time to move forward with your life (like, major changes)? How do you know? What do you do? When God tells you to move forward you move forward. When He closes a door, He'll open another one.

3. When is it time to just let it ('it' can be whatever you choose) go? How do you know? What do you do? See the answer to number 2! :)

4. How many times must someone push your buttons before you've just had enough? Why? Only about two or three times.

5. If I S/O were to cheat on you, could you ever see yourself giving them a second chance? Or a third? Not really. If he wanted someone else then he should end it with me first! Or visa versa.

6. What was the last thing that someone did that you were very grateful for? Buy me Rita's!

7. How much time do you spend online in a given weekday? What about the weekends? I'd say around 2 or 3 hours per weekday and maybe 8 or 9 hours on the weekends. Just depends on how tired I am.

8. How many online journals/blogs do you read regularly? What are some of your favorites and why? About six or seven. I'm a nosey person! haha...

9. What was the last major purchase that you made? Well, we paid off my car...So it was just fully purchased in March. Other then that we just bought iPhones!

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

Sinus’ make spring very nasty, blah!

I honestly like the spring weather where it's nice enough outside to not have your ac on or your heat. BUT my head and face could really stop hurting and spring would be ten times better!
