Handle with Care by Jodi Picoult
"Every expectant parent will tell you that they don't want a perfect baby, just a healthy one. Charlotte and Sean O'Keefe would have asked for a healthy baby, too, if they'd been given the choice. Instead, their lives are made up of sleepless nights, mounting bills, the pitying stares of "luckier" parents, and maybe worst of all, the what-ifs. What if their child had been born healthy? But it's all worth it because Willow is, well, funny as it seems, perfect. She's smart as a whip, on her way to being as pretty as her mother, kind, brave, and for a five-year-old an unexpectedly deep source of wisdom. Willow is Willow, in sickness and in health." Everything changes, though, after a series of events forces Charlotte and her husband to confront the most serious what-ifs of all. What if Charlotte should have known earlier of Willow's illness? What if things could have been different? What if their beloved Willow had never been born? To do Willow justice, Charlotte must ask herself these questions and one more. What constitutes a valuable life?
My review - I loved this book other then the ending. The ending just wasn't what I wanted it to be. I loved learning all about Willow and her disability. Very interesting! I only have one more book to read from Picoult and I'm expecting it to be just as good as all the other books she's wrote. I gave this book 4 stars because it was so captivating!

Six Word Saturday
Saturday 9: Midnight Confessions
Saturday 9: Midnight Confessions
1. Have you ever had to confess something to a lover or friend? Not that I remember.
2. How well do you handle rejection? Not well at all. I'm very hard on myself about the way other people see me.
3. What makes you feel old? Seeing little teeny-boopers walking around.
4. What makes you feel young? Music, listening to music!
5. What’s something you are old school about? Waiting to "dust" until you are married. I'm very old school about it. It was the best thing that I have ever done and I am all about promoting abstinence. Don't read this wrong and think I'm judging anyone who hasn't or won't wait until they are married - to each their own. But it is something so wonderful to wait! Okay, stepping off my soap box.
6. What TV show's seasons would you buy on DVD? Tell us why it rocks. King of Queens - we have a few seasons of those and would love to have all of them. That show is so funny. Probably another one would be ER. It was such a good show. And House and I'd love to catch up on the show Fringe.
7. If you could create your own TV channel, what would it be? Hum...It'd be a mix between do-it-yourself stuff, funny tv shows and then of course I'd put a little bit of news on there for my husband.
8. Where do you like to go for a day trip? Mountains. A few years ago my husband and I went to the mountains on a rare weekend that he had off and it was so awesome! AND the beach, I'm going to my mother-in-law's, Cindy's, next weekend just for the weekend!
9. Name some things that you still want to do in your life. Have children, be a stay-at-home mom, be a good witness for Christ!

Rebecca's Choice by Jerry Eicher
Popular Amish fiction author Jerry Eicher finishes the Adam’s County Trilogy with an intriguing story of a young couple’s love, a community of faith, and devotion to truth.
Rebecca Keim is now engaged to John Miller, and they are looking forward to life together. When Rebecca goes to Milroy to attend her beloved teacher’s funeral, John receives a mysterious letter accusing Rebecca of scheming to marry him for money. Determined to forsake his past jealousies and suspicions, John tries hard to push the accusations from his mind.
Upon Rebecca’s return, disturbing news quickly follows. She is named as the sole heir to her teacher’s three farms. But there’s a condition—she must marry an Amish man. When John confronts Rebecca, she claims to know nothing. Soon Rachel Byler, the vengeful but rightful heir to the property, arrives and reveals secrets from the past. Now the whole community is reeling!
My Review - This book was pretty good...Rachael did get on my nerves through-out the book and I thought it was pretty low the things she would do to get the money. Although the ending was sad I thought it was appropriate. This was also my favorite book out of the whole trilogy. And I'll probably read other books by Eicher. So overall I gave it a 4 star!

Candle in the Darkness by Lynn Austin
Book 1 in the Refiner's Fire series. The daughter of a wealthy slave-holding family from Richmond, Virginia, Caroline Fletcher is raised in a culture that believes slavery is God-ordained and biblically acceptable. But upon awakening to the cruelty and injustice it encompasses, Caroline's eyes are opened for the first time to the men and women who have cared tirelessly for her. Her journey of maturity and faith will draw her into the abolitionist movement, where she is confronted with the risks and sacrifices her beliefs entail.
My Review -
This book was pretty good and I absolutely LOVED the ending...I took me a while to get into the book cause it was set back in the 1860's and that's not usually the type of writing I read but I love all of Austin's other books so I knew after I got into this book I'd like it as well. I will be reading the other books in this series and I can't wait to read them! :) I only gave it a 3 star, instead of 4 or 5, because I'm quiet stingy with my 4 and 5 stars! :)

Saturday 9: Hey Jealousy
Saturday 9: Hey Jealousy
1. When was the last time that you got jealous? Hum...It's been a while. I remember around Christmas being jealous of a girl at work who was pregnant. Only because I'd love to have a baby of my own. BUT God will supply that when He sees fit and that's what I keep telling myself. So being jealous really was silly!
2. At what point do you finally decide it's time to move forward with your life (like, major changes)? How do you know? What do you do? When God tells you to move forward you move forward. When He closes a door, He'll open another one.
3. When is it time to just let it ('it' can be whatever you choose) go? How do you know? What do you do? See the answer to number 2! :)
4. How many times must someone push your buttons before you've just had enough? Why? Only about two or three times.
5. If I S/O were to cheat on you, could you ever see yourself giving them a second chance? Or a third? Not really. If he wanted someone else then he should end it with me first! Or visa versa.
6. What was the last thing that someone did that you were very grateful for? Buy me Rita's!
7. How much time do you spend online in a given weekday? What about the weekends? I'd say around 2 or 3 hours per weekday and maybe 8 or 9 hours on the weekends. Just depends on how tired I am.
8. How many online journals/blogs do you read regularly? What are some of your favorites and why? About six or seven. I'm a nosey person! haha...
9. What was the last major purchase that you made? Well, we paid off my car...So it was just fully purchased in March. Other then that we just bought iPhones!
Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

Rebecca's Return by Jerry Eicher
I liked this book a lot more then the first in the series. It dragged for me a bit in the middle where it was just about how upset they were about John. And I was sure that something more would go on with Emma but I guess that will be saved for the third book. I gave this book three stars cause I liked it! :) I started this book on 04/22/10 and I finished it on 04/29/10.

Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult
Jodi Picoult is one of my favorite authors. I love her writing and the stories she tells. One of her other books, My Sister's Keeper, is by far my favorite book ever. I also liked her book The Pact. This book was a little different but I liked this book okay. It wasn't my favorite of her's but it definitely wasn't my least favorite either. And it kind of dragged for a little bit in the middle. I knew from the get go about Kurt but I would have never guessed about Grace. I gave this book 3 stars. I started reading it on 04/02/10 and I finished it on 04/22/10.

Saturday 9: Hurts so Good
1. Tell us about the last time you really got hurt. Hum...I guess it was like getting hurt. I'm allergic to latex and it's only around my mouth. That was found out by the dentist using latex. My lips blew up and it was bad. But it hurt so does that count?
2. What's your oldest possession? At my parents house I have a Cabbage Patch Kid that I had from being very little, his name is Brian. But here at my house my oldest possession is probably panda blanket that my aunt Susie gave me or the green cups that were my mom and dad's. You are probably thinking the green cups are like china or something but they are actually just plastic cups. Nothing taste as good in anything else! haha
3. Do you have any phobias? Spiders and drinking or eating anything that's bad. I've always been scared of spiders but the drinking and eating anything that's bad has just surfaced in the past year. I smell milk before I drink it every time I get ready to drink it!
4. What values did your parents instill in you? To trust in God no matter what, to treat people how I wanted to be treated, to be honest all the time, and they love me!
5. What are your plans for Easter? Sonrise service tomorrow morning then back for regular services and then a cook-out at my mom's!
6. I like sun more than snow. That is a FALSE statement. I LOVE snow!
7. Tell us about 3 fads from your teenage years. I don't know about my teenage years but as a child the fads were side ponytails, leggings, and big hair.
8. Tell us what is the most important attribute in a lover. That they be more concerned with making sure the other person is happy.
9. What new piece of technology have you resisted buying and what would it take for you to change your mind? A smart phone, and it would take the prices dropping majorly!

** spoiler alert ** I really liked this book until it got to Eliza's story and the whole circus bit just doesn't appeal to me I guess. But I loved Aunt Batty and Gabe. I could also tell from the get go that Eliza would fall in love with Gabe and Aunt Batty would fall in love with Walter but I wanted to find out how it all happened. It was an amazing story with the exception of Eliza's circus bit. With that I kept waiting for something major to happen to her for her to have hid it from everyone for so long. Monday Mayhem
Welcome to Monday Mayhem.
Today's Meme is the Annoying meme
For each of the prompts, name what annoys you....
Have fun.

What annoys you about people that you spend time with outside your home (coworkers etc)? People talking about me but when you say something to them about the problem that they were speaking of nobody has a problem with it.
What annoys you about people in your home? Hum...noises...haha...kind of like if your car rattles and it drives you crazy! haha
What annoys you about talking on the phone? I can't stand to talk on the phone...Weird I may be but I just don't like to do it. I would rather drive to see someone to talk to them instead of talking on the phone. It annoys me that you don't know when or what to say hanging up.
What annoys you about the over-used terms that people use? I don't know...Don't really have anything for this one.
What annoys you about restaurant foods? Well, my husband being a chef I, expect a LOT out of restaurant foods. It annoys me when I go to a restaurant and it is not as good as it should be.
What annoys you about restaurant servers? When they don't keep check on your table, or they act like you are crazy when you ask for certain stuff.
What annoys you about reading other blogs? Don't really know. I guess when a blog has so much stuff on it that it takes forever to load the page. If this is ever my page please inform me!
What annoys you about memes? How sometimes they get to where they are repeating themselves from week to week. Or maybe it's just that you feel they are repeating.
What annoys you about commenting on blogs? Nothing...Wait, I don't like when the comment box is in a popup.
What annoys you about people who chew gum? When they chew with their mouth open.
What annoys you about driving on the highway? People who drive slow when getting onto the interstate or people driving in the left lane slowly.
What annoys you about shopping at Walmart? OH WOW. Our Walmart is packed at all times of the day except at about midnight. People being packed into a shop annoys me.
What annoys you about kids? When their parents don't control them in public. Like when you are out at the restaurant and the kids are running around crawling under the tables and stuff. I am a firm believer in spankings! If you don't like that then don't watch me when I have children raise my children how I feel they should be raised.
What annoys you about your gender? Cattyness. Women are so catty sometimes. Granted I'm catty to at times.
What annoys you about the opposite sex? They don't have to go through childbirth! HA
What annoys you about shoes? When they don't feel comfortable on my feet.
What annoys you about shopping for clothes? When they don't fit like the should. Or I pick up a size that should fit but for some reason has been shrunk down and won't!
What annoys you about music? Degrading music. Just don't care to be degraded.
What annoys you about drinking alcohol? How some people get stupid and get behind the wheel and drive.
What annoys you about pizza? When it is so greasy that you stick a napkin on it and the napking gets soaked YUCK!

Rebecca's Promise by Jerry S. Eicher
I had posted before that I was going to stop posting my reviews of books. I'm rethinking this for a few reasons. First, books are a HUGE part of my life. You will hardly ever catch me without a book. (I take a book to church and leave it in the car!!). Second, I love to read reviews from other people on books because it helps me add titles to my TBR list that is ever growing. And third, I know you really wanna read what I read! haha. So, here it is......
This book was pretty good. There needed to be more trial in it though. I liked the story of Rebecca and Atlee and I'm so glad she got to see him one more time to ease her mind. It was a short and sweet story. I'll read the next book whenever my library gets it. I gave this book a 3 out of 5 stars for just liking it.
When I post a book I always rate it with stars. I get these stars from http://www.goodreads.com/ where I post all of my books. It's an awesome site you should check it out! Anyhow, here are the ratings...
1 star - didn't like it
2 stars - it was okay
3 stars - liked it
4 stars - really liked it
5 stars - it was amazing!
I'm picky with my 4 and 5 stars for the simple fact that if a book gets a 5 star it better blow me away and I can think of nothing else for days. To get a 4 star then a book has to be a book that I can't put down but that after it's done I don't think about it. Does my thinking make sense? haha. Anyhow, happy reading!

Your thoughts please...
http://www.stylelist.com/2010/03/10/how-long-can-you-go-without-washing-your-hair/
So I came across that article last night and thought that I couldn't go that long without washing my hair. It's hard for me to go without washing it on Saturday's. But during the week it is a must that I wash everyday. If I didn't you'd be able to have oil for your car just from my hair. haha. That was a stretch but seriously if I go one day without washing my hair then it'll be oily and nasty. So my question for you is how often do you wash your hair?
I wash and condition my hair everyday. I wash it just so it won't be oily and then I condition it because otherwise I wouldn't be able to pull a comb through it after washing it.

My thoughts....
So I haven't posted here lately because I haven't had much to say...Anyhow, here's my thoughts...
I have baby fever and it is crazy. I know that God will give me a child whenever He sees fit not when I see fit and for that I'm thankful. So when Jamie and I get pregnant it'll be awesome, until then try will be fun! haha
I am one of the crazy people that want to have more snow. And we have a saying here where I live that if it thunders in the winter then it'll snow in 7 days. Well, it thundered last night so we shall see if that saying is true or not! BUT I so want it to be true. Just one more snow before it gets to that yucky hot weather outside!
Jamie's brother is getting married and I'm so excited to be getting a sister-in-law. They are getting married in July :)
I usually say that I'm going to spend my Saturday's cleaning and then end up not doing a thing except for the laundry. Today has been different though. I've washed the dishes and put them up, made the bed, cleaned the bathroom all up, and I'm finishing up laundry now! :) Feels good to accomplished something on my day off, I'll try this more often.
I'm an avid reader and it gets on my nerves whenever I can't read as much as I want to. But I'm enjoying reading more this year since I don't have a set goal. I want to read all of the Jodi Picoult books and I only have two more books left! :)
That's enough for now...Hope you have a great night...

Friday Fill-Ins: 165
1. A cup of tea is good if it's a cup of sweet tea with lots of ice!
2. Love and family makes a place feel like home.
3. Everything has its beauty because God created it and God don't make ugly stuff.
4. Chocolate or the taste of strawberries?
5. Art makes me happy, depending on the art.
6. LOL I just noticed I forgot, forgetting is never usually LOL.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to cleaning some, tomorrow my plans include laundry, homework and babysitting and Sunday, I want to spend time with family!
