Random Stuff......

Do you ever get upset that a book is taking you so long to read? I've been reading The Girls forever it feels. I'm so ready for it to be finished and it just keeps dragging on and on...If I was a quiter I'd quit it but I ain' t no quiter!

http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/
Is a really cool website with just crockpot recipes...Anyhow, she just posted a Chicken Enchilada Chili and it was so good. You have to try it out!

I'm one of those people who love snow and we're supposed to be getting some on Friday! I'm so excited.

I just read a post at another blog that I follow and she was talking about she'd decided not to get a Wii. Well, that exact same day as reading that my husband went out and bought us one! haha. I've been bugging him for weeks about I want a Wii cause he had an xbox360. Well, he tried to get on his xbox on Monday and the ring of death (it over heated) came on so the xbox is shot! So we got a Wii...I LOVE IT! I've started working out with it and then we also downloaded the game Super Mario Brothers 3 on there! I loved that game when I was a kid.

Anyhow, enough rambling! Enjoy your Thursday! :)

Sunday Stealing: The Negativity Meme

I usually try to be a pretty postive person and always look at things in a postive way but I had to do this meme.

Foods which disgust the crap out of me: where to begin...I don't like beans unless it's chili beans. Livers are nasty. Asparagus is really yucky! BUT my ultimate unfavorite food is Pinto Beans they just look sicking!

TV show I loathe: Hum...I don't think I really have one but I don't care for That 70's Show if that counts.

Movie I loathe: SAW any of them. They are freakish and just wrong and scary too...The first one was okay and then my husband and I went to see Saw II and I cried all the way through the movie.

Music genres I loathe: This may amaze some people but I don't like country at all.

Magazine which annoys me: Don't have one.

Makes me cranky at restaurant: Well since NC made all restaurants non-smoking, I'd have to say the things that makes me cranky in a restaurant is people who don't control their children.

Makes me cranky in public: Stupid people. If I'm in a hurry and people driving slow that makes me cranky. Or people going to fast. haha

Makes me cranky in general: See above two answers. Stupid people and people who don't control their children.

Pisses me off at home: Dishes being left either in the living room or being left waiting to wash to long (I'm guilty of it too though).

Pisses me off at work: I work with a bunch of women and sometimes we can all be catty.

Pisses me off in general: Doesn't piss me off but I don't like to talk on the phone.

Makes me impatient at home: Nothin' really...

Makes me impatient at work: When the children don't listen. haha...

Makes me impatient in public: Unfriendly people. If I'm coming through your line at the grocery store and you are the cashier say how are you (even if you don't care) and say thank you (even if you don't care).

Celebrity I hate: I think Lady Gaga is over-rated. She's weird!

Music artist I hate: Kayne West (I call him K-9 when I talk about him)

I could care less about: having the right clothes. I would rather wear something comfortable then something that's in style.

Annoys the crap out of me weekdays: getting up early. I am not a morning person. I'd rather stay up late and sleep late.

Annoys the crap out of me weekends: I still wake up early, although most of the time I roll over and go back to sleep.

Blogger's habit that annoys you: music on the profile all the way at the bottom where you have to wait for the page to load and then stop the music.

Feature on your blog you hate: music.

Movie star you despise: don't despise him but I'm not a Brad Pitt fan.

Politician that you hate: Again, hates a strong word but so I don't hate any politician.

Friday Fill-In #160 & Other stuff...

So I was supposed to post a blog yesterday but I came home from work at about 6pm and then thought well, I'm tired so I'll take a nap. That nap turned into bedtime. So last night I went to bed at 6:30pm and slept til this morning at 7:15 when I got up for work! So I'm well rested. haha...

Anyhow, here's my Friday Fill-Ins! :)

1. You have a chance to go, GO NOW!
2. GO right now!
3. There is a lot going on in my world.
4. Do NOT credit items and pay later.
5. It's time to man up and pay your debts!
6. It's all up in the air but at least I know where I'm going in the end (do you?).
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to relaxing at home but ended up at the hospital with my aunt, tomorrow my plans include laundry and visiting the hospital and Sunday, I want to go to church and spend time with family!

P.S. I'd like everyone to keep my aunt, Karen, and our family in your prayers. She has cancer and it's in it's final stages so there is nothing they can do for her except make her comfortable now. Thanks so much!

Monday Mayhem - The Scenario

The Scenario

Welcome to Monday Mayhem, where no two Mondays are the same.
Today's meme is the scenario meme. For each prompt, simply write your best answer.

1. You see a strange car pull up to your neighbor's house every day at lunch time. You accidental glance into the window of the house and notice that your 'happily married neighbor' is fooling around! What do you do? Mind my own business and pray for them (by the way, why am I home everyday at lunch???)

2. You are at the mall and a mom with really annoying screaming little kids is walking in front of you. She goes to give her kids a quarter for the giant gum ball machine and she accidentally drops a $10 bill and doesn't realize it. What do you do? Pick up and give it back to her. Was there really a question about this? haha

3. You get an email from a candy company telling you that they will send you 6 pounds of delicious chocolate if you blog about their product. When you get the product and try it you realize that it is the worst chocolate that you have ever tasted. What do you do? Post honestly and then decline the chocolate when they try to give it to you.

4. Texting while driving is one of the most dangerous and annoying things someone could do. Yet, what would you do if you were driving and listening to the radio when the announcer says that he will give $10,000 to the first person with your name that texts a message to him? Pull over and text right then and there. Mind you, you probably won't make it to be the first one but it's still worth a shot!

5. You've been invited to your boss's house for a dinner party. It's dark out and there is poor lighting when you get there. As soon as you get inside you realize that you have stepped in dog poop and you have tracked into your boss's house. What do you do? Point it out to her and apologize. Then clean it up.

6. You are at a restaurant waiting for your food to arrive. You've waited nearly 30 minutes since the moment you placed your order when your food finally shows up. There is a hair on the top of the food. Do you send it back and wait another 30 minutes or do you deal? Um, I send it back and ask to speak to the manager then I get up and leave.

7. If you had the power to do so, what would be the one question that you would like to ask anyone who reads this? Why don't more people comment on post? Everyone loves to get comments, so please leave a thought.

Random...

Completely random post...Have you ever noticed that I mainly post on the weekends? That's cause I forget to check blogger through-out the week.

Does anyone else get post from random people and usually about viagra or something? Can we say REJECT, that is a prime example of why all comments have to be approved by me.

I just love DVR and watching recorded shows with my husband. That's the life. But then again I love to just spend time with him! We watch House (which was really funny this week), American Idol (the auditions are funny), Biggest Loser (to help encourage us) and many more.

My birthday is coming up and I feel like I'm getting old! Especially when children come into the daycare that I work at that I had 4 years ago and they are in 3rd grade.

So to keep me to check up on blogger through-out the week I'm going to try to start doing like a Ten Facts Thursday...

1. I like chocolate.
2. I dislike liquid meds, just can't take them.
3. I'm a Christian.
4. I am turning into my mother more and more everyday, not that it's a bad thing!
5. I want to learn how to use Paint Shop Pro so I can design different things.
6. My least favorite food is probably beans. Unless they are chili beans.
7. I wished I took more pictures for memories.
8. Winter is my favorite season.
9. Summer is my least favorite season.
10. I love to read (like you didn't know that?!)

Hope you enjoyed this!

Six Word Saturday

Thankful for good books to read!!!

Read below post for more...

Christmas Jars by Jason F. Wright

This past year my husband and I were watching Glenn Beck, now I don't usually watch news type stuff but that night my husband was watching it so I naturally tuned in too. He was talking about the reason we celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas. The real reason, not Santa Claus reason. Then he started talking about this book called the Christmas Jars and how it had changed his life and he'd started a tradition with his children. My husband thought this was a great idea. You take a jar and put spare change in it through-out the year and then on Christmas Eve you take it and give it away. So this past Christmas Eve we took a jar that was about 1/4 full and left it on a strangers door step. This was after we drove around and asked God where to leave it. I don't know what this family was going through but God wanted them to have it. It was a true blessing to be able to do something like this and our family will carry on this tradition. This book tells about how this tradition started. I think it's a must read and will change your life if you let it. I gave it a 5 star because although I read it once, it would be one of those few books that I could read over and over again.

I have decided not to post all the books I read because some books just aren't worth posting if you know what I mean. So from now on I'll only be posting books that I rate at a 4 or 5 star as to that means I think they are really good. Saying that though I'm very picky about giving out 4 and 5 stars so you may not be seeing many books. haha. Anyhow, everyone read needs to read The Christmas Jars! :)

Goals...

Last year, 2009, my goal was to read 50 books. Well, I met that goal by reading 56 (10 of those being children's books for school). Anyhow, I decided this year that I wouldn't set a goal that I just wanted to read. So read I will do...Do you know of any good books?

So, I've gotten very OCD (or is that CDO??? haha) about how I read books. For example if I add a book to the TBR list that I have going on - that's about 650 books - then I will find and make a list of all the books by that author and the order that the author wrote them in. Very nerdy I know. But again I'm rambling. So I have an excel file with different authors and all their books listed. I'd love to read all of a few author's books. Like I know I have two Jodi Picoult books left and then I will have read all of her books.

So read just to have fun - because reading is fun - is my goal and lose a little bit more weight is another goal for 2010. What are some other goals I could set?! Hum...

The last post.........

of 2009, what did you think I was going to say, forever? haha. So overall this year has been okay. It hasn't been the greatest but it hasn't be the worst so I'm not going to complain. Just wanted to post a blog saying Farwell 2009 and Welcome 2010!!!

BTW, do we say 2,010 or do we say 2010???? Because in 1999 we said 1999 not 1,999!!! Ponder that.

Fireproof by Eric Wilson

I started this book on 12/02/2009. I finished this book on 12/07/2009.

I really enjoyed this book once I got into it. The first few chapters were a bit dragging for me but after that it really picked up. I would have liked to have read the book before I saw the movie but sometimes it just goes the other way around.

The year is almost over and I've met my goal of 50 books for 2009 but I just like to read so no stopping any time soon.

A few things I want for Christmas...

It's Christmas time and that means the "wants" of everyone comes out full force. A new cell phone. We currently have a contract so therefore I can't just go get a phone but ATT does have go phones and this is one of those. Ahhh...a full keyboard (never had one of those on a phone).

Rock What You Got by Superchick CD...I received one of their other cd's for Christmas last year and they are awesome!

Those are just a few of the items that I want for Christmas, my needs now are completely different! haha...Merry Christmas everyone!

Weight Loss...

Today was weigh in day and I've lost a total of 10.2 lbs since September 13th. It doesn't sound like much in two months but to me it's alot...And I'm really excited about it. Makes me want to keep doing Weight Watchers. Anyhow just thought I'd share that wonderful news...Or what I think is wonderful news...

Coupons...and a few other things...

So here recently I saw one of my friends on Facebook post something about figuring out coupons. AND I was wondering if anyone had any coupon sites that they'd like to share?

Also I'm not Twilight Obsessed as some people are (not that I'm judging) but my husband thinks I am. And really I just think Robert Pattinson is HOT! What's wrong with that? I told him today I could be so much worse with that movie. He said I don't understand why people like it. So then I had to explain why everyone likes it. MEN! (Gotta love em)

My dad preached an awesome sermon on Sunday (not that he doesn't do good every week) but this Sunday it was about needs. And his main statement throughout the whole sermon was - 'If you're down to nothing, then God's up to something.' How right is that. I felt like he was preaching right to me because last week it was a battle.

First it was cold and then rainy. Well, where our crawl space is for our house flooded so the heat started messing up. Then once Jamie and his friend, Justin, got all the water out we went to turn our heat back on and it smelled so bad like something burning. We changed the filter but it still smelled. So today we had someone come out and look at it and found the problem. Now it doesn't stink. But we'll need a new heating system very soon. Whew...But I know God will provide so I'm not going to stress or worry over it.

Alright, enough rambling...Now I'm going to bed...don't forget to leave comments and let me know some coupon sites! :)

Eve's Daughters by Lynn Austin

So about a week ago I was complaining that I didn't know what book to read but I really just wanted a GOOD book...Well, I found it...Read below! :)

I started this book on 11/07/2009. I finished this book on 11/11/2009.

This book got five stars from me which is a major thing. All I can say about book (well, not really all I can say) is WOW!! It was amazing. My favorite part was Emma's story. Okay now let's go back some, this book was about 3 women, (Grandmother, Mother, Daughter) and their stories plus the story of their Great-Grandmother. It was about how when a lie was exposed everything started making sense and people started to understand. I love how the author did push God on you she just let the characters speak through the story about their faith. The part about the daughter needing to know that her mom and dad were proud of her hit home big time, as in that's something I fear is my parents won't be proud of me. I can't wait to see what her next book is about!

What to read...

I know it's unbelievable but I actually haven't had a book to read since Thursday so that's two days without a book. It's not that I don't want to read it's just I don't know what to read. So what do I read? If you have any suggestions please let me know.

On to other things...Jamie and I have been married two years! WOW I can't believe it's been that long. It feels like just yesterday I was walking down the aisle to him. Oh how I love him. To celebrate we are going to a cabin in Sparta thanks to some friends of our family, Susan and Randy. Sparta is about an hour away so we're going to leave tomorrow after church and go up there till sometime on Tuesday. I'm so excited.

I'm also excited that tonight Jamie and I are going to Charlotte to eat at a resturant called Pie Town. We've ate there before, so we knows it's really good, but the chef/owner of the resturant also is an author that Jamie likes and tonight they are having a book release party. I'm excited because he's excited.

Why is it that the leaves changing colors on the trees are so pretty but then when they fall on the ground they aren't so pretty anymore? haha

Off to try to find a book to read...Thanks for reading my blog...leave a comment and tell me what book I should read...

Boy In The Striped Pajamas by John Boyne

I started reading this book on 10/29/2009. I finished this book on 11/03/2009.

I really liked this book. I would have liked to see more conversation between Bruno and Shmeul but overall it was pretty good. The ending wasn't what I thought it would but and I didn't like the ending. Or wait, the ending was okay but it was sad. I had wondered at one point if Shmeul wouldn't talk Bruno into trading places with him but the ending wasn't that it was something much sadder. Overall a three star book. I can't wait to see the movie.

Woohoo, met my goal of 50 books for 2009 and still have 2 months left...Now onto the next book...

Weight Loss & New Floors...

The weight loss is going okay. So far I've lost 5.2 lbs! :) I'm excited about that but just want to lose more.

Back at the end of September we had our floors redone. If you remember back in March, Jamie and I entered a contest to win patio furniture and flooring. Well, we won and we got our patio furniture and we've had it for a while. But the floor people weren't really wanting to work with us so it took us till about the first of September to even get the tile that we'd ordered back in May! Anyhow we are finally finished and here is the finished product. I have a picture where you can kind of see the bathroom floor before (it was black tile). Now it's white tile in the bathroom and kind of brownish tile in the kitchen...Enjoy! :)

Cold Fire by Dean R. Koontz

I started this book on 10/12/2009. I finished this book on 10/29/2009.

It was a pretty good book. My edition was extremely long because it was large print but it's what the library had so I took it. Anyhow, it was a book of twist but not to many that you got lost. I would have liked more twist. So I gave it a 3 star...
Now on to book 50!! :) If I finish this next book, and I have a strong feeling I will, by the end of the year then I'll have reached my goal! :)

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson

I started this book on 10/07/2009. I finished this book on 10/11/2009.

I think I read this book in high school. It was enjoyable but it was definately a young adult book. I felt so sorry for Melinda through-out the whole book. I can't say I understand what she went through and hopefully I'll never be able to say I understand it. Maybe girls in high school that have gone through what Melinda went through would like and feel with the book more then girls that haven't. Overall it was a 3 star for me. I couldn't really put it down but it wasn't the best book I've ever read before. BUT I did enjoy the ending, which is rare that I can say that about books.

Only two more books and I'll reach my goal of 50 books for the year of 2009!!! :)

Brink of Death by Brandilyn Collins

I started this book on 09/30/2009. I finished this book on 10/07/2009.

This book was really good. It kept me guessing through the whole book. Wasn't as many twist and turns as other books I'd read but still there were some. I felt sorry for Annie and Stephan. I couldn't imagine being like that with my mom. And then Erin seeing what she saw. Can't wait to read the next book in this series. Gave this book 3.5 stars!

Now on to book #48 which is Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson...I recorded the movie for this book so I can't wait to compare the two...AND only two more books till I reach my goal of 50 books for the year of 2009! But don't worry I won't stop reading once I reach 50 books! haha

Broken Hearts by R.L. Stine

Another R.L. Stine book. I remembered parts of it but some of it was a surprise to me. I love reading his books now because they are an easy read for me. And sometimes and easy read is just what I need after reading a deep book. It was okay so I gave it a two star.

Now I'm reading Brink of Death by Brandilyn Collins...Hope it's good...

The Shack by William P. Young

This was a weird book for me. I'm a preacher's kid and was raised southern baptist. I've always said I was southern baptist to my core. But I have my beliefs and I have different reasons why I believe what I believe. Some of the book was okay and then some parts I was just like this is crazy. I thought it was inspirational in the way that it tried to get you to think but other then that it wasn't my type of book. I was definately ready to finish it. And I did like the ending pretty good (which I can't say about many books). Overall this book was just okay for me so I rated it two stars.
Next book please... :)

April Shadows by VC Andrews

This book was pretty good. I have read it before as I've read alot of V.C. Andrews' books before I just didn't remember reading this one. But every page reminded me of what was going to happen. I plan on reading the next book in the series but not right now. Cause I'm pretty sure I've read it before too.

Next is book #45...But what book should that be? I'm having a hard time deciding...I wanna read a really good book...We shall see...

Beach House by R.L. Stine

Next is book #44!!

Second Glance by Jodi Picoult

This book was kind of weird for me. I enjoyed it but it was not my favorite of Picoult's. I enjoyed the in depth details and all the twist that it took. And although it's not my favorite of Picoult's, I still love her books. Can't wait to read the next one...

Now on to book 43!

Weight Loss....

Well, a while back I was doing the weight loss thing and I was trying to use Sparkpeople.com. That didn't work for me. I hated having to count the calories and all. Anyhow, Jamie had done Weight Watchers before and he lost 50 lbs. But he'd been off of it for a while so we decided that we'd do it together. So on Sunday night we joined Weight Watchers for at least 4 months (that's the package). My weigh in days are on Thursdays so I weighed on Sunday night and then again on Thursday morning. I'd lost 4 lbs! I was so happy and so surprised. I know I'll not always lose and I know I will not always lose that much even if I do lose but I still hope it's a good start. So, happy weight lossing!

Medical Issues...

Well, I'm still seeing spots. I went to the neurologist on Wednesday and he thinks that I'm just having migraines. And I've gotten use to the pain. He asked me how often I had a headaches. I said pretty much everyday I have a headache. It's usually on my left side which is where my vision has been bothering me. SO, the doctor sent me to get an MRI this morning and then I go back to see him on October 14th. He also put me on blood pressure meds hoping that they will prevent my headaches. He wants to try to prevent them instead of stopping them after they start. I'm all for that. He said that hopefully my headaches would go from being everyday to once or twice a week. I sure hope so. I know God will see me through this. And I'm thankful for all the prayers.

Go Ask Alice by Anonymous

This was a very graphic book. I'm not sure it's really a young adult book. Or it shouldn't be I guess is what I mean. It has a lot of language and details that I would have been shocked at if I read it when I was younger. It was also depressing in a way because I've never dealt personally with anyone who's been through any of this or anything like that. I would recommend it to anyone who was thinking of experimenting with drugs. I gave it two stars.

The Wrong Number by R.L. Stine

I love re-reading these books as just a small and quick read. I think it's funny how I can read it and remember loving these books when I was younger. They are still good but I'm just older now.

This is book #41!

Dread Champion by Brandilyn Collins

This was a pretty good book. It was the sequel to Eyes of Elisha (that I read back in July). I liked the first book better but this was a wonderful book too. I loved the drama between Kerra and Brett. Overall it was a pretty good book. I can't wait to read more of Brandilyn Collins books.
Now to book #40!! Only 10 away from my goal of 50 for the year...I think I can make it...hopefully.

Randomness...

Just decided to do a random post...

I love the weekends...Saturday's the most just because I don't have to do anything.

How can some people not work but yet still have the $$ to go out and buy stuff? I don't understand. Jamie and I work hard to have what we have and still don't get everything we want. Ya know?!

I'm a nerd...there I said it...Just like some people are jocks, I'm a nerd. If I could read or sit at a computer all day I would.

Speaking of sitting at a computer and reading all day, I'm also a hermit! haha...I love being at home. I'm a person who loves the indoors, just like some people like the outdoors.

I can't wait till winter, yes you read that right. I love winter, hope it snows this winter and alot!

Back in April or May I was losing sight in my left eye and I've started seeing spots again. I'm going to a neurologist on September 9th so we'll see. Keep me in your prayers please!

That's enough random facts for today...hope you enjoyed...

The Rich Girl by R.L. Stine

Yes, going back to my teenage years. I use to love R.L. Stine and I really wanted something light and easy to read and this was definately it. I read it all in 1 day! I loved it when I was a teen but now it was predictable. I still liked it though. And I'll read more of his books when I want something light and easy. I gave this 2 stars.

Now on to book 39!!

Hold Tight by Harlan Coben

I loved this book. All of the twist and turns that it took were great. Especially the last twist that it took. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good book that has twist. This is probably one of my favorite books I've read this year! I have this book 5 stars!!

Perfect Match by Jodi Picoult

I started reading this book on 07/18/2009. I finished reading this book on 08/06/2009.

Whew...I'm so glad I finished this book. For some reason I just couldn't get into it at first. So it took me almost a whole month to read it. But I got through it and I'm so glad I did. I loved the ending in the book and I can't say that about many books. It's not my favorite Picoult book but it was still good.

Now on to book 37!!

The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian

I loved this book as a devotional. I would recommend it to anyone who is a wife or who is going to be a wife soon. Made me realize some of the things that I do and some things I should do. Like pray more for my husband!
