Weigh-In Day...and Laundry
And my husband joined SparkPeople so that's inspired me to try harder too and I've started logging my food like I should have been doing all along.
So we made our own laundry detergent a little over a week ago...It works wonderfully. I think next time we'll do the powder laundry but it's such a savings in money. I mean you pay $9 for a box of Gain that does 40 loads of laundry. We paid probably about $7 or $8 for all the items to make the laundry and it'll make more then just one mix of the laundry detergent and the homemade detergent will probably do at least 80 loads of laundry. SAVINGS!!!

Please add this precious little boy to your prayer list and pass this information along. Thanks so much! :)

The Hollow by Nora Roberts
This book was pretty good. It wasn't as good as the first book, Blood Brothers, but I loved Fox and Lalya. And I loved them falling in love. My favorite part of the book was probably the part where they were all six attacked at the same time. I thought that was pretty cool. I can't wait to see what the next book has in store.I rated this book a 3 star. Book number 24...Moving on to book 25...

Blood Brothers by Nora Roberts
This is the kind of Nora Roberts book that I like. I don't mind a little romance in a book but I want there to be a story line other then the romance. This book had me from the start and I can't wait to read the second and third books in the series. The theme of the books kind of reminds me of her other books Born In Series. But I really liked Cal and Quinn and all the characters. A wonderful and quick read. I would have gave it 3 and a half stars if the half stars were allowed. That makes 23 of the 50 books I want to read in 2009. Almost half way there and it's only April...Maybe if I reach 50 I'll extend my goal to 75. That would be amazing. There are so many good books out there and so little time...Now on to the 24th book.
So I joined Twitter...

3. Tell us about your first kiss. I don't remember my first kiss kiss as much as I remember my first kiss with my husband. He'd been chasing me for about a year and a half wanting me to date him and I finally decided to give him a chance to date me...Who knew we'd be married years later...Anyhow, our first kiss I was sitting on the hood of his jeep and he was standing in front of me. 10. What do you love most in life? I had two answers for this one but picked books over being at home. There is just something about books that make me feel safe. I could spend hours in a store like Barnes & Noble.
11. One Word to describe you. Sweetheart is what Jamie calls me. I’ve had a few other people in my life that have called me Sweetheart from the time they met me. All I can do is try to live up to that name.
12. Your Flickr name. I didn’t have one until now and my Flickr name is KasiLou…Not sure I’ll ever use this site but I picked a flower that I like for this picture since the survey never asked for a flower. My favorite flower would have to be the orchid so that’s what I chose a picture of.

Just a preview of more pictures to come...
This is a picture of the sound side of the island. We went to a resturant last night that was not as good as the view but this was definately an awesome view for the sunset. Or the tail end of the sunset.
That's the view of our house from the ocean side. We're staying at a house that's been in our family for years and my great uncle now is owner of it but it's so cool to say I've been coming to this house for 26 years. LOVE IT!!! Oh yes, that's my grandma close to the house and my sister Jessi in front of me with the red shirt.
The wonderful beach. It's so pretty...Everytime we come I say let's move to the beach. It's so beautiful and it amazes me everytime I see the beauty of the ocean and the sand that God created all of it. But He still took the time to create me too. Amazing!!
Us walking down the boardwalk to see the ocean for the first time. This is something that I always do when we come. I go see the ocean before unpacking the car. Like do I think it's going to disappear??? Again, it's Jessi and Grandma in front of me.
A view from when you first walk out the door of our house. That's the pier and ocean. Gosh I love this place.Sunday, April 12, 2009
VACATION!!!

Friday Fill-Ins: #119

About a comment...
It wasn't that I didn't want her to find out she was adopted. It WAS that I didn't want her to be adopted. As a sister to two twins who were adopted I can understand wanting to know that you were adopted and where you came from 100%. They are my sisters and always will be though. But going back to the book...Even though I'd read the book before and I knew she was adopted I kept hoping she wasn't really adopted. I know it doesn't make much sense. But God always has a plan and He may have some people be adopted so that they can have a better life.
I hope whoever left that post anonymously reads this post and understands a little better what I'm saying. And if they don't then oh well...

To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
This book was just okay for me. It got really interesting when the trail of Tom Robinson was going on and toward the end it got interesting again. But other then that it was about following around a little girl and her brother. It is a very racial book so I understand how it was a big deal back when it came out. Overall it wasn't really bad but it wasn't my favorite. I'd probably give it a 2 and a half star if I could. That was #21 of the 50 books for 2009. Hopefully I will make it to 50 but I would love to read at least 75. I guess we'll see.

The Voice of the Night by Dean Koontz
This book was really good. I felt so sorry for Collin and the way his mother didn't believe anything he said and he was the good guy. I wish it had of ended with Collin visiting Roy in the hospital like he'd said he would do but that's okay. Overall it was another pretty good Koontz book. Love his work!

The Shunning by Beverly Lewis
This book was excellent. It's not my favorite of Beverly Lewis but I've at least read it twice now. I've predictable which is what I usually can't stand in a book. And throughout the whole book I was hoping Katie would never find out about the satin baby dress although I knew she would. Amish people are very interesting to me and this book shows some of their traditions. Can't wait to read the second in the series again. Now on to my next book...The Shunning was my 17th book for 2009. Only 33 more to go...

This book was pretty good. It took me a while to really get into it but after I got into it I thought it was really good. The twisted plot was confusing because of how twisted it was but it ended good I thought.I have a list of Harlan Coben's books and he's one of the many authors that I want to read every book that they wrote. Coben's books are usually dramatic and full of twist. We'll see what he has in store in the next book of his that I want to read which is The Innocent. But before I read that I'm going to read some of the other books on my TBR Author List. haha...Come back for more reviews.

Kidney Stone
Another book...
I just finished Mercy by Jodi Picoult. While I loved the book and thought it was really good I only gave it 3 stars because I reminded myself that it was not my favorite Jodi Picoult book. Here's what I wrote as my review on Goodreads. This book was a book that made you think during the whole book. It wasn't a light read at all. Cam really got on my nerves thinking he could have his cake and eat it too but I love how Allie reacted whenever she did find out about the affair. Jamie and Maggie were the main ones that had you thinking during the whole book. I love Jodi Picoult's books. This was not my favorite but not my least favorite either.
So that's my fifth book for 2009. I'm well on my way to 75 books this year, I think.

No Second Chance...
As I've said before my goal this year is to read 75 books. I just finished my fourth book the other day and here's my review on it.I usually don't give out 4 or 5 stars to books unless they really have my attention. I was into this book from page 1. This book was my favorite so far by Harlan Coben. I was guessing who did the crime the whole time. At one point I was sure I knew who did it and then the plot was twisted. The epilogue was such a good add on. I can't wait to see what his next book has in store.
Now I'm on to Jodi Picoult's book called Mercy. I have a list of authors that I want to read all of their books. Here in the last year I've gotten kind of OCD about how I read books and all. For example. I want to read the books in the order that the author wrote them in. My list of authors currently includes Harlan Coben, Barbara Delinsky, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Beverly Lewis, James Patterson, Jodi Picoult, Nora Roberts, Danielle Steel and Scott Westerfeld. Some of these authors have over 100 books! Anyhow, guess I'd better get off of here...Thanks for reading

Saturday, January 24, 2009

Well, I finished the book Extras by Scott Westerfeld. Here's my review that I wrote for it on http://www.goodreads.com/
This was by far my favorite book of the whole series. The other books usually took me about two or three days to really get into them but as soon as I started reading this one I was into it. I loved Aya and Frizz.
Now I've started another book called No Second Chance by Harlan Coben. It's starting out really good so we'll see. I don't know if I posted but my goal for how many books I read this year is 75. I'm hoping I'll make it at least to 50 but I'd love to make it to 75. We'll see I guess. Extra's was the 3rd book.
My friend Erica and I have decided to delete and cancel our whole bloging thing. We both have very busy lives and it's just a little extra busyness that we don't need. So, if you were one of the few who read that then I'm sorry but it's no longer around.
Anyhow there's another blog here that does Friday Fill-Ins (http://fridayfillins.blogspot.com/). I first saw it on my friend Erica's blog. It's basically survey's that are supposed to be done on Friday but oh well, it's Saturday and I'm still going to do it.

Specials...
This book took me a while to get into but once I got into it I couldn't put it down. The future aspect of this book was kind of weird at times but I loved the ending. I can't wait to start Extras.
I give it 3 out of 5 stars.

So much going on...
I'm excited about so much but sad about one thing. On Sunday, December 14, 2008 my mawmaw passed away. And although I know she's in Heaven having a wonderful time, I miss her greatly. Thanks to everyone who has prayed for her and our family.
And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. -1 John 4:16

So much is going on...
Speaking of Christmas, mom and dad bought us a Christmas tree as part of our Christmas gift. I'm so excited. And now Jamie's mom and brother are coming in for Christmas. It's going to be fun!
Our anniversary was November 9th and it was great. I woke up thinking that I was going to have to spend the whole day by myself because Jamie would have to work. BUT he surprised me and while we were getting ready for church he informed me that he was not going to be going to work. AND that we were going to the Renissance Festival and to eat at the Melting Pot for our anniversary. It was a really good day. We had fun at the festival and enjoyed it and then the Melting Pot was the best!

Well...
Tuesday was okay. I was back at work but left a 4 to go to the eye doctor.
Wednesday I woke up and had a red spot on my face. It looked like a bump was coming so I gave it little thought and went on with life.
Thursday my cheeks and nose were bright red and I realized I was having an allergic reaction to something. So I stopped taking the Sulfa (which is what I finally figured I was allergic to). I started taking two Benadryl every four hours to help the reaction and to keep the itching down. I also started putting an ice pack on me when I stated itching.
Friday I thought I was going to scratch myself to death. I itched all over and I started getting little bumps on my hands too. I didn't think I would make it through the whole day at work but I did good. Mind you I was still taking the Benadryl and doing the ice pack. But once I got home I slept because that was one way to keep from scratching.
Saturday I got up and it had spread to my arms. My mouth was hurting from the root canal cause the tooth needs to be smoothed down and it was cutting my cheek and tongue. So, it hurt to talk but I invited my momma over :) I hadn't seen her all week so it was a good visit even if I didn't want to talk much. After she left I took a nap and then continued the benadryl and ice pack thing.
This morning I was feeling a little better but not completely. My arms are not itching anymore. My hands still are and there are still a few little bumps but for the most part it is gone. My mouth still hurts but I'm going to have that tooth smoothed tomorrow so after tomorrow morning it won't bother me hopefully.
About the house. We put in a new offer and the seller accepted. It went through appraisal on Thursday and if it is appraised at the right amount then we have a house :)
We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. -Isaiah 53:6
